Through our Website, nonprofits will find a broad range of software donated by leading tech companies such as Microsoft, Cisco, Symantec, Intuit, and Adobe, along with content and community forums targeted specifically at a nonprofit audience. The NetSquared conference and showcase social Web innovations that nonprofits can use to dramatically increase their reach and impact.
Working with partners around the globe, we’re actively expanding these resources outside the US. New initiatives at TechSoup include a program (funded by the Gates Foundation) to help public libraries better maintain their public access computers and an expanded Green IT program that aims to build the market for refurbished computers and other environmentally appropriate solutions. Founded in 1987 (as CompuMentor), we currently have more than 150 staff members and an annual budget of about $18 million.
Who We Are Looking For:
We’re looking for a motivated, experienced Senior Marketing Manager to join our hardworking team. Ideally, you are willing to jump into a busy marketing environment and manage multiple projects, ensuring on-time delivery of results. In this key role, you will envision and manage a wide range of marketing activities for the TechSoup Stock program including customer communications and customer retention, product promotions, new customer acquisition, and results evaluation and reporting.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Communications Director and working closely with TechSoup Stock senior management.
What You’ll Do:
Key aspects of this role are:
- Establish marketing goals and strategies related to acquiring new customers (i.e. – 501c3 non-profit organizations) and revenue generation
- Develop and execute marketing plans and programs, both short and long range, to ensure the revenue growth and expansion of our service (with strong project management skills)
- Ensure effective evaluation and control of marketing results and take corrective action to achieve marketing goals within budget
Job responsibilities:
- Develop and manage customer acquisition and customer retention programs including: direct mail, customer emails and e-newsletters, partner marketing, referral marketing, and conferences. These programs target our current audience of U.S. and Canadian-based nonprofits as well as segments such as libraries and nonprofits in other countries.
- Develop and manage all elements of marketing campaigns, from concept to evaluation.
- Develop and manage targeted online advertising program including e-newsletter and PPC placements.
- Manage website merchandising and the development of promotional website content.
- Research, analyze, and monitor customer trends and market trends to capitalize on market opportunities using Web analytics and other tools.
- Conduct marketing surveys and research to better understand the needs of our current and prospective customers.
- Evaluate market reactions to advertising programs, merchandising policy, and offerings to ensure the timely adjustment of marketing strategy and plans to meet changing market and competitive conditions
- Create reports on marketing activities and their effectiveness
- Keep the TechSoup Stock, TechSoup and other program teams informed of all marketing activities and work with them to ensure coordination of activities, messages, and resources.
- Supervise one or more marketing staff members. Your work will also be supported by other TechSoup teams, so you should be comfortable in a matrixed responsibility environment.
- Provide input on other marketing communications at TechSoup.
Additional responsibilities based on your skills and workload:
- Lead data analysis projects which will help us build customer profiles, understand visit and ordering behavior, and size and segment the target market.

Your Qualifications:
Required skills:
- At least 5-8 years of marketing experience, preferably focused on online marketing with an e-commerce or technology company. At least one year in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience creating and implementing results-oriented marketing campaigns using tools such as e-mail marketing campaigns, online advertising, and search engine marketing.
- Significant project management experience with proven ability to lead projects from conception to implementation and evaluation, including projects involving people in many departments in different roles
- Strong copywriting, editing and communications skills.
- Ability to manage on multiple projects and tight deadlines to achieve results
- Experience using outreach and data analysis tools: GetActive, Convio, or similar email tool, WebTrends or ClickTracks web site data analytics.
- Ability to pay attention to detail while maintaining a big-picture perspective.
- Flexible and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a sense of humor and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
- Must be enthusiastic about the mission of TechSoup Stock and its clients
- Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of the nonprofit sector.
Highly desirable skills:
- E-commerce or retail/merchandising marketing experience, consistently beating established goals
- Marketing to the nonprofit sector or a similar audience, including NGOs outside the US
- Marketing technology products or services
- Knowledge of technologies and technology-related issues that affect nonprofits
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience
- Experience analyzing large data sets for customer and business insights
