Jobs: Internal Audit/Quality Manager (Full time, Exempt)

TechSoup is a nonprofit organization that helps other nonprofits acquire and use technology to better serve their missions. Through our Website, nonprofits will find a broad range of software donated by leading tech companies such as Microsoft, Cisco, Symantec, Intuit, and Adobe, along with content and community forums targeted specifically at a nonprofit audience. The NetSquared conference and showcase social Web innovations that nonprofits can use to dramatically increase their reach and impact.

Working with partners around the globe, we're actively expanding these resources outside the US. New initiatives at TechSoup include a program (funded by the Gates Foundation) to help public libraries better maintain their public access computers and an expanded Green IT program that aims to build the market for refurbished computers and other environmentally appropriate solutions. Founded in 1987 (as CompuMentor), we currently have more than 150 staff members and an annual budget of about $18 million.

Primary Responsibilities:

Your primary focus will be around the processes and procedures by which we qualify organizations for eligibility to our product donation services, a critical core competency for Techsoup.

  • Research, develop, implement, and manage a successful audit plan that ensures adherence to documented procedures and provides quantitative data for quality improvement.
    • Perform audit procedures, including identifying and defining issues, developing criteria, reviewing and analyzing evidence, and documenting processes and procedures.
    • Evaluate and determine adequacy of internal controls.
    • Conduct interviews, review documents, develop and administer surveys, compose summary memos and recommendations using independent judgment concerning areas being reviewed.
    • Develop and report on a set of summary metrics which track our quality level and can be used to measure progress.
  • Use audit results to build a Quality Management capability and to recommend enhancements to workflow and procedures to cost-effectively decrease error rates and improve service delivery.
    • Communicate results of audit projects via written reports and oral presentations to management and others.
    • With Training Manager, incorporate relevant materials into our Customer Service training program.
  • Identify and investigate potential abuses of our donation service, including fraudulent registrations and unethical or illegal uses of products received. Follow-up recommendations to decrease occurrence of such abuses.
  • Remain current and increase knowledge in the areas of auditing, accounting, business, company products and company information through self study and/or continuing education efforts.
  • Manage certain administrative functions such as customer service surveys and audit performance evaluations.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated success in implementing an audit program with quantifiable results and improvement.
  • Minimum of four years professional experience in a similar audit or quality management role. Bachelor’s or higher degree preferred.
  • Self-starter who excels at learning new processes and business functions, and is able to critically analyze and assess for effectiveness, adequacy of internal controls, and opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity. This position involves a significant amount of exposure to management and requires the ability to effectively communicate recommendations and analysis, but the conviction to support them.
  • Knowledge of and interest in the nonprofit sector, particularly in the organizational and mission characteristics of nonprofits and NGOs.
  • Excellent computer proficiency, including familiarity with CRM and e-commerce systems.
The following are preferred:
  • Professional certifications including Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and/or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
  • MBA
  • Specialized audit skills such as control self-assessment and/or fraud auditing.
